A Bit About Me
After recently retiring from a successful career in clinical research at Johnson & Johnson, Dawn is excited to bring her passion, expertise, and fresh perspective to local government. With decades of experience leading multi-million-dollar global projects, Dawn has built a career grounded in organization, accountability, and transparent decision-making-skills that directly translate to effective and responsible public service.
For Dawn, her partner Barry and her two sons, West Cape May has been a place of peace, connection, and tradition for Dawn and her two sons—one of whom now proudly calls North Cape May home. The town's charm, history, and tree-lined streets hold a special place in her heart. "West Cape May is a magical place," Dawn shares. "I love the same things every resident loves about West Cape May, and I want to help protect that." This personal connection fuels her commitment to serve and ensure the borough thrives for generations to come.
Dawn is not new to community involvement. As a founding member and board member of the current West Cape May Taxpayers Association, she has worked to expand membership and ensure residents have access to timely, transparent updates about borough decisions. She has also helped to bring in expert speakers on issues ranging from tourism to agriculture, helping residents stay informed and engaged.
Her priorities as Commissioner reflect what residents care about most:
Fiscal Responsibility - With her certification as a process improvement and background in project efficiency, Dawn is committed to identifying ways the borough can operate more efficiently, with a long-term goal of reducing expenditures while protecting residents on fixed incomes.
Robust Communication - Dawn wants to strengthen the borough's communication channels so that all residents can easily access accurate, consistent information about local issues and initiatives.
Public Safety & Beautification - Dawn has already acted to improve safety, from successfully advocating for repainted crosswalks along Broadway and Park to pressing CVS corporate to repair unsafe walkways. She believes in holding property owners accountable for safe and well-maintained sidewalks, trees, and public spaces, ensuring West Cape May remains both safe and beautiful.
With her collaborative approach, proven leadership, and deep love for West Cape May, Dawn is running to offer a thoughtful, community-centered vision for the borough. She is ready to listen, learn, and lead with integrity-honoring the town's unique charm while building a stronger, more sustainable future.
